Ribbon weaving where participants were invited to choose colors from the flag of their country of origin and write their immigration story into a Community Tapestry.
With the theme of immigration as a focus, the project had the objective to literally weave the community together through immigration stories as participants become more aware of the rich tapestry of cultures that make up the melting pot of NYC.
A three-part event, this program was funded by the Cultural Immigrant Initiative with the community from Council District 11. It took place at The Hebrew Home RiverWalk Senior Apartments in Riverdale and in Van Cortlandt Park.
The project was commissioned by the Bronx River Art Center.
Thanks to BRAC—specially to Michele Brody—for the invitation and support of the project.
