Installation of romance novels and iron cage
25.5 x 25.5 x 25.5 | 65 x 65 x 65 cms
Site-specific installation at Casa de Té del Zoológico La Aurora (La Aurora’s Zoo’s Tea House) in Guatemala City. Some of the participating artists decided to use the “imprisonment” as our theme for the exhibition. I related this concept with women’s “chic-lit” as a means of fantasy and escape.
Next to the cage was the following excerpt from one of the novels of Corín Tellado (Spain), one of the most well known writers of the genre since the 50s:
‘I dont know what is happening,
but Im sure there is something going on.
Its strange, or maybe not.
It is true that I know nothing of men,
but I have read.
—Corín Tellado
