One of my favorite letterpress techniques I learned while resident at The Center for Book Arts was pressure printing.
In 2013, I experimented printing one of my blouses—one that had a lot of texture—and incorporated some of the stitches I learned during my year as a resident there.
The stitches are traditionally used for bookbinding, and they include Japanese tortoishell and hemp, herringbone, tacket, and longstitch. I had a lot of fun with printing this project and with the total freedom to experiment with the sewing.
